Limitations:

I'm limited by my vocabulary, Words like 'thee' are best for me, I know my knowledge is also bland, But I am closer to my native land. I should spend time with a good book, But I prefer spending it sitting by a brook, For nature teaches me the things I yearn, It's just not my forte how others learn. Though I do try to better myself, I keep a dictionary handy, upon a shelf, I'm always looking up words I don't know, Mind you I can't bring myself to put them on show. And I still believe there is a poem or two in me, One day I shall write one just you wait and see. /|\

this is cute, Budgie! Yes, pentameter means five and it represents the five STRONG stressed sounds in each line of a sonnet. There are ten syllables per line but the stress is like da DA da DA da DA da DA da DA. If you work on lines that read that way, I know you can do a traditional sonnet. This one can be called a modern one! rhyme scheme for traditional are ababcdcdefefgg.

You did just fine writing this poem, Rick. You had me chuckling hard on this one. Good job. The big words, ah, they be alright sometimes. The little words get the point across equally well. I will use a big word from time to time keep my neural pathways expanding. Love this poem though. Real funny and down-to-earth. Keep us grounded, Rick. Love you always.

Very nice sonnet, Rick. I too would rather be beside a brook except I would like to have a fly rod in my hands. I also relate because I do not usually use a lot of big words when I write. I know them, i just don't use them. Great sonnet for me because I easily identify with it.

Another wonderful piece I can definitely relate to. I'd much prefer to learn from being outside in nature than sitting inside with a dusty old book. : )
