Like Ripened Fruit

Like Ripened Fruit Authored by Chuck Keys Where is my next stop? I look but cannot find, Forever seeking unfulfilled dreams, Of ... yesterday, A falling tree in the forest, Can it be heard? And it's echo? Yonder calls me, Where days of endless youth move on. I walk selflessly through moments to be, Disdained and distanced from what was mine, As the foliage turns to colors, I miss what never was but want more, Pick the fruit before it ripens, Watch the tide come in, effortlessly, Naturally, Rain drops bring life and darkness, When time will pass us by, Oh time, Oh me, Oh freedom that is. I have not tasted enough, Like a lake to be bedded down for winter, The birds head south, driven and free, Effortlessly, Naturally, Endless ageless tears disappointed, I want so much more, where and when, Will it be? When will it be for me ... if ever?

You really have that free "feeling" about your poetry, chuck. The mindset of someone who writes free. (I wish I could think that way, but for me it all comes very metered) However, I appreciate how flowing your style is too! LUv, Andrea

I feel your pain, Chuck..sometimes I feel the same way..disappointed about things I wanted to do but did not..who knows why? Hey, but I've got "today"!! And we do what we can if we have the ability to. Wonderful, heartfelt write, even though it's sad. God bless you, Peace, Audrey

Keep the faith, Chuck, even though it may be hard when life has been filled with so much disappointment. I'm sure there are roads before you that will lead to happiness one day.

We are definitely walking down similar paths in life, Chuck. Everything we want seems to be out of reach and time just scurries by as we fear growing old alone. I was very moved by your poem, my friend, and can certainly relate to the emotions you express. Love, Carolyn
