Like a Broken Doll

The House is Burning Down I could fall asleep wrapped in our silence Searching for the echoes of the secrets we thought we knew Isolated in a crowd I imagine myself in your presence in order to keep my sanity But those sky eyes hide icicles of lies that I’m even sure you were aware of Distracted by the despair disappearing from within Insides shaking from the idea that my heart depends on the rise and fall of your chest And my hands won’t stop twitching Which matches the ticking on the clock As well as my racing mind Ricocheting the thought that you had the power to give me safety And now the house is burning down Leaving the young girl on the curb Clutching the two pieces of felt Containing the softness Bounded together by the fragile thread With two button eyes Watching it all fall apart
