Lights Out Anxiety

How I dread that time of the night Lights out as I wait anxiously To fall asleep, encounter dreams My subconscious delivery Will they be sweet and filled with peace? Or will dreams take a different course If spicy food has been consumed Nightmares display severe remorse Some say dreams reflect the future Counselors say they reflect past acts But where do the monsters come from? Those who try to whack with axes! So as I lay me down to sleep I pray for dreams that bring sweet thoughts With loving hearts we approach day “Lights Out!” Anxieties increase *For Dane Ann's "Lights Out" Contest

My nightmares always include someone I love in great peril and I can't seem to help them, or I've lost them somehow. But I've never been chased by an axeman before! Nice poem Carolyn, I added another verse to mine making it a perspective of three, check it out!

Terrific poem, Carolyn. Yup, that axe murderer guy seems to make the rounds. May all your dreams be sweet and pleasant. Joe

Superb piece Carolyn, I like it. As you know, the anxieties when the lights go out can be so frightening. My Steven has not had any episodes for a few months now, no longer is the hand coming out of the ceiling, and no longer there is someone standing beside his bed. I just hope this continues. Good luck in Dane Ann's contest >> James
