Life Song
The older I get, the longer the days, but the faster the years now fly by.
As old age encroaches, the Dark Angel approaches singing death's lullaby.
But I'm not ready to go, I've much yet to do, so let me tell you, my friend,
I'll go to all lengths and use all my strengths, though the Reaper may win in the end.
Though things may seem dark and at times overwhelm, there are so many reasons to live.
There's a world to uncover, so much to discover, friendship and love yet to give...
As I round each new corner in life’s ongoing journey, surprises await me, I know
And if you should meet me, take a moment to greet me and then, on my way, I will go.
Like an old time court jester, I won’t let sorrow fester or withdraw like some people do;
Instead I will meet it head on and defeat it and start each bright dawning renewed.
With love’s power endowed, I will not be allowed to give in to Death’s dark demands;
Then once I’ve given my best and lay down finally to rest, I’ll give myself into His hands.
