Life Defined Within Time

Was I ever what I was before? Is who I am now less or more? There were times I thought I could fly Yet because of fear I failed to try Sure I can't do what I used to do Limitations are many, quite a few Still I remember me and you We were so young, that is true It seems age has caught up with us We can't fight it, so why make a fuss Thinking back, it all seemed so simple Moving among the young and nimble The many things that I liked best I cherish them and forget the rest Now we are older, wiser and blessed I believe we are more, not truly less Our lives are not over, there is more to give Sometimes being older teaches us to live So try looking into these mischievous old eyes There is a young heart, masked within the wise

awwww, this is so precious. As someone entering this time of her life, I can relate to it. fewer things I did in my youth appeal to me now. But other things take their place. Good one, Richard. Glad I found one I had not seen yet.

This is a good way to look at aging. I think if we could see ourselves from a young persons eyes we'd panic a little more...or close them.

In reality mirrors don't bother me, I agree with you Donna.

Age takes much, but it also gives much for those, like you, who are wise enough to recognize it.

Fortunately by body has not betrayed me so I still feel young. As long as I can avoid those dreaded mirrors *lol*.

Keep passing that wisdom on in your writing Rick. We might not be so nimble and quick but we can still show them young uns a thing or two. Take care, Richard

You got that right Rich. I enjoy playing sports against the young guys, they can't firer out why I can keep up with them and the harder they try the more mistakes they make.

At last I managed to find time to pay you a visit. Most impressed with this first poem of yours that I've read. It relates to me as age too is catching up with me. I really like this poem, especially the ending.

You look young enough not to have to worry for a while. Thanks for the visit.

The truth is that wisdom and strength move in opposite directions, there comes a time when both will meet at equilibrum we all called prime, afterward which both will begin to see each other footprints. The sense in moving on is the courage in both to call the attention of each other to the footprints and what can be done to ameliorate the trip of life. The old and the young or the present and the past,as a matter of success, need to complement one another for the optimal result.
