Life

I can resist the inflection of sweltering change If scenes of my youth remain intact I can soothe the temptation a life unlike my own endures If its swings swirl around and invite a not too dissimilar sway and twirl I can ride the depth of intelligent thought to a demeaning shallowness, Or even spell a word until it mounts a pious willingness to hide I can choose silence and distant calm in the midst of a crescendo Queue for a ruse that only makes this weight abide Make a smile an unseen diversion from a whisper Dance in a worrisome trance And slowly..fade to passion's will But I cannot deride an ending, if life chooses to make it mine
