Life

Life. Life, said the judge and down he went, Eight years later his sentence was spent. Life, how long is that for one to endure? Seventy years on , so how much more? Sentenced to life for something not done, It's all in your mind says everyone. Terror and fear to a child is so real, No one really knows just how you feel. Leave the past behind is a common phrase, Just hurting yourself til the end of your days. How on earth do you make the pain go away, When it comes back to taunt you day after day. Sleep is elusive many a night, Scared I might be given a fright. Dark corners , tight places to me,I won't go there Can't think why, never been trapped in anywhere. Maybe my mind is just playing tricks, I don't know, But I've cried many tears, just hoping they'd go. © Dave Timperley 23 July 2016.
