The Devil is the father of all Lies He is subtle and devious He is cruel and merciless He is daring and bold He is selfish and cold He knows what we want to hear He likes to whisper in our ear He tells us we will be fine He seems to be oh so kind He wants our soul He wants it whole He’ll take our life With a silver knife Trust the Sly Devil At your own peril Promises of power, fortune and fame Just roll the dice and play the game He’ll tell you there’s nothing to lose Pills, Crack, Pot or Booze You’ll have it all! Till last call! And HE’LL be laughing As he watches you fall The cruel lie of addiction is that we are fooled into thinking our wants are really our needs. The disease wreaks havoc on our minds and our bodies and even our souls. We will lie, cheat and steal for another fix, not caring who we hurt. Most notably, we are lying and hurting ourselves much more than the people who love us.
