“A thought, even a possibility, can shatter and transform us.” Nietzsche
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I want the clouds to be like bouncy cotton Stop the childhood fantasies from being forgotten I want the ocean to stain blue They mark the waves of pain I’ve been put through I want the lakes to hide monsters I prefer them over the imposters I want the grass to breathe life through my feet To understand choices are sometimes bittersweet I want the trees to have faces With age, the feeling of magic is wasted I want the animals to speak their minds They seem to be a lot less blind I want trains to speed into another time Discover an alternate life dizzy with metaphor and rhyme I want classical music to be the new pill For hearts to feel healthy as well as thrilled I want a den made of sheets to feel like an unbreakable fortress Be so imaginative that the world feels enormous I want the butterflies in my stomach to be colorful A happiness that would make me tearful I want my poems to be more than visuals in my mind Manifestations of a greater humankind I want smiles and loving embraces to heal pain Spreading love that keeps us all sane I want to strive for greatness the same way I took my first steps Viewing life as less daunting and much less complex I want to live life with humility I want to tango with possibility
thanks for your insights into my poem and for your kind words. I suppose we poets do tango pretty often, don't we. We're a rare breed. Grateful for you and your visits, Sara
You still have a lot of wants for an older woman, Sara. Doing the tango with anything seems a bit extreme to me. I like your poem for the contest though and hope it does well, my eastside writing bear! GrRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRrrrrr Bill
Dear Sara, another breathtaking journey through the depths of imagination and longing. I feel each stanza is a testament to the power of dreams and the beauty of possibility. I absolutely love your words for they are a sense of yearning for magic and meaning in a world often plagued by doubt and disillusionment. This is inspiring us to embrace the wonder of existence and to dance with the endless potential that surrounds us. Blessings, my dear friend, Daniel
thanks, Daniel, for accompanying me on my journey of possibilities. I believe there's magic in the world (still) and in possibilities. Life is full of wonder if one only allows themself to desire and experience it. Appreciate your visit and kind words. Have a great weekend, Sara
If it were possible for all your wants to be granted, the world would be as it should, enchanted. A splendid write… Hugs, Beryl
Oh my gosh, Sara! I'd say you've succeeded in making these rhyming couplets imaginative. Inspired by Nietzsche, you've listed some wonderful wants, and I don't think any of us should ever stop striving to have "an alternate life dizzy with metaphor and rhyme," or that our pains can be healed with smiles and embraces. Hugs to you for brightening my morning.
awwww, thank you Lin for your enthusiastic and upbeat comments. I agree...none of us should stop striving for what seems impossibilities at the time. Glad I brightened your morning; you certainly did mine. Hope your painting endeavor is going well, hugs, Sara
