Let the Caged Birds Free
I sighted free birds gladly leaping in the air
And I love them cheerfully singing there
Over the dale and high above they dare
And the sun rays and thrill they share
Swans and others dip their wings in rivers
Seagulls fly away to reach the blue sky
Sparrows are in fields wheat feeders
Surely they are born free and must fly
Stretched wings take many to mountains
Where even falcons make their habitats
Graceful white doves feed on the grains
Many others fly with no strings attached
But caged ones dream of perching on trees
And sadly miss the worms and the fish
Longing to taste the unrestrained breeze
But have strange food forms in a small dish
I hear the caged birds' painful cry
Of missing their lovely little ones
And praying to free to reach the sky
Quite eager to open up their lungs
He listens to his own song in that tomb
While kids come in joy to stare at him
His tears no one sees but desire his plume
His freedom again becomes very dim
I pray you all not to clip their wings
And help to stop their scary shrills
Do not tie their feet for they must sing
Those happy tunes must go till the hills
