Let It Out
her crystalline eyes brim with water
the salty liquid cascades down the sides of her face
dripping onto the fine silk of her green dress
she spreads the liquid into the fabric with her shaking hands
afterwards interlocking her fingers
trying to keep them from fretting at her hair, her face, her clothes
hoping that if she can keep herself still
she will not break apart
for this princess has been betrayed
her fragile heart smashed to pieces like glass upon the floor
how had she been so blind to his brittle deception?
she wonders, paining herself, bruising her already beaten down ego
tormented, she squeezes her eyes shut and prays for it to end
bitter tears slip inside of her mouth, drowning her
she digs her nails into the flesh of her cheeks
and, finally, she screams.
