Let Go (My Speech)
It’s not impossible to let go
of things or people in your life
that aren’t good for your welfare and well-being.
Lovers and friends—that’s nothing more than demons in disguise—
who feed off your pain—feed you with lies.
Teardrops of salty cries, but still you rise.
The look of determination, the focus in your eyes—
spread your wings, take two steps forward, one deep breath,
and open your eyes and fly.
Bypass life holding obstacles and barriers of stone walls.
Take control of your mind—I promise you’ll get to where you’re going,
if you stand strong and believe it’ll happen in due time.
I know how it feels to be hurt, scarred—
you’ve lost faith in love.
You have a heart that doesn’t work.
We smile on the outside
but inside we’re dying with pain...(here’s the twist).
To proud with pride to lay down and die—
to afraid to live so you keep your life concealed,
to scared to love so you bottle up your feelings,
so let down and hurt—
cryin’ is all that works...(the breakdown)
Life moves fast, but WE control our future
