Lest You Forget
Beneath the summer hood,
winter slumbers;
while flowers bloom at dawn,
droop at noon.
Blazing sun wanes to sleep,
flowers wither.
A trillion stars cuddle
at night, winking:
Rose, how is your today?
Color is dumb;
beauty lies in eerie
darkness. Unsung,
swept away by rash wind;
stars sing a dirge:
once was a summer Rose,
always in bloom
at dawn. Not any more,
neither fragrance,
nor pollens pulling bees,
nor morning buzz.
Like summer’s winsome glow,
or winter’s chill,
life’s a tidal steamer.
Lest you forget!
