Lessons of Consequence

A blind man taught me how to see A deaf man taught me how to sing The heartless lady showed me how to love And that lazy boy gave my life a shove Now I’m rolling down the road, looking for teachers such as those I want lessons of consequence, no more insignificance I need meaning to carry me on; I need meaning like a bird need song I need meaning to carry me on. The left footed that taught me how to dance That selfish girl who showed me true romance The suicidal that showed me how to live The penniless that gave all they could give Now I’m rolling down the road, looking for teachers such as those I want lessons of consequence, no more insignificance I need meaning to carry me on; I need meaning like a bird need song I need meaning to carry me on. The know how of the human race Out strips the words on every page So I travel onwards over the hill Learning each day until I get my fill
