Another true story
Leroy was a real good dog, one of our very best.
Since he came to live with us he seemed to feel quite blessed.
He seemed so eager just to please, he loved us one and all.
Faithful friend, companion,Playmate, guard; all rolled in one small ball.
My oldest daughter, married now, had a small dog of her own.
She brought him to meet Leroy when for holiday she came home.
Goliath weighed about four pounds. He was so sweet and cute.
Leroy took one look at him and thought,"Boy, he's a beaut."
"I hope he hasn't come to stay, he can't take my place.
If he tries to replace me I'll have to eat his face."
Goliath tried so hard to please, he wanted to be friends.
He'd bound around and try to play and wag his tail and grin.
Leroy just ignored him, he didn't like him much,
So when we fed them we made sure they didn't have to touch.
It was holidays and so they got a special treat.
They got some of our food too, some yams and turkey meat.
Goliath left his bowl to see if Leroy's bowl was better.
He stuck his nose too close and Leroy lost it altogether.
He whirled upon the little dog growling as he went.
He smeared Goliath nose to tail with yams and turkey scent.
Goliath screamed and screeched and cried,
And I rushed to his side.
We were wrong my husband said,
Leroy does like Goliath, -----with yams.
