Left On the Shelf

This book is deeper with volumes galore A heart and a soul Behind many a closed door Where I hid the pain of my mistrust and hurt Masterfully buried Between line, page and verse Each chapter unfolding As a new page is turned Yet the mystery lingers More for you to learn This book is deeper than the love for a lover Trickery fools you By it's dusty cover Blow free the dust As the secrets disperse And I might let you discover this lifetimes work Take down this book that was left on the shelf As you open this book I will open myself

An awesome, introspective poem, Julie. Poets do bury their feelings in their work. The last two lines sum up your feelings so well! Truly outstanding poetry; I look forward to reading more of your work. Best wishes, Carolyn
