Leaf Tear and Kiss
Leaf Tear And Kiss
Atop the oak tree with green leaf on the overlook
Red sun hung up there with it on the cliff
A valley held out, cupped its hand, waited
On a tiny leaf like tear
It broke off to sojourn down
Lovers pointed up to see the floating green transform
Turn its colors into a kiss
Bright colors released into their souls
Leaf brushed like a feather on their cheeks
A kiss just below the eyes
Changed before them as it faded
From green to multicolored to brown
Dropped before it landed like a sweet kiss on the mouth
It touched their lips, transformed them on the spot
Kissed them once again just above the earth
As they soured on
Into October bliss
