Lay Me Down
Crystal eyes that reflect but never see
Heart of glass, warm but frozen still
Unspoken cries of a child unseen
Spirit untouched
Taken hostage by an iron will
Unmasked for a season
Danced outside a flowered wall
Followed time unchecked
To dwell within the chill of an early fall.
If here I lay me down
Among the hail, on frozen ground
Silver shards to pierce my heart
Let fortunes cloak float away
Hands entwined in tortured prayer
Follow me home, angels waiting there.
A teardrop falls, a single trace
Of soul untouched
Left behind as the battle soared
For life, for time
Frantic hands try any door.
If here I lay me down
Let tears soften unforgiving ground
Awashed in light
Lift opened eyes and hands unbound
Heated hearts swiftly melt
This prayer was felt,
Followed me here,
Angels hover, ever near.
