Lay Down My Crowns

As twilight ushered in again the last of yesterday the glimmer of life’s candlelight began to fade away I gazed upon your weary face you smiled at me and said… “My spirit will ascend from here; leave body in this bed where I once laid my burdens, I will now lay my crowns the hand you held all through the night - the Lord will take it now I’ll plant my feet on golden streets and sing with angels too at the Marriage Supper of the Lamb I’ll save a place for you.” How I longed to keep you here I didn’t want you to go because I knew that missing you is all I’d ever know But I’ll share you with the angels until at last we meet and just like you I’ll lay down too my crowns at Jesus’ feet.

What a tremendous poem. We shall in glory time, be reunited with our loves. This blessed hope is ours, and we will never let it go. Thanks for sharing your talent with us!

"Life's candlelight began to fade away". What a sensitive way to describe dying, the hope to see each other again. I can't tell you how in awe I am at you're sensitive way with words, no wonder you called your later poem ( corny, but I like it) I will certainly be visiting you.
