Last Night I Dreamt

Last night I dreamt words that I said
were birds! Some were blue; some were red.
so I needed to write.
Words I spoke would take flight
and then go over everyone’s head!

In my mouth the birds puffed out each cheek,
but I’d lose my words, were I to speak!
Then one zealous red bird,
(a most passionate word),
pecked inside of my mouth with its beak!

Words went flying away with that poke!
Where was paper to write? A cruel joke!!
By my bed was a pen.
I reached out for it. Then
I crashed onto the floor and awoke!

What a wonderfully entertaining poem. How I enjoyed this one. I would like to be able to read all your poems but you have so many. So I have decided to read your rhyming and limerick poems first. Because those are my favorite poems. Thank you for reading and commenting on mine.

That reminds me of a trip I took on LSD many moons ago. But I think it was butterflies in my head, fluttering their wings and sprinkling fairy dust on my brain causing me to hallucinate images of angels dancing among the stars. Then I realized that it was just the bubbles in my beer. Hmmm.... I think there is a poem in there somewhere. Rockman :-)

These are the craziest, funniest limericks! Amazing presentation of the dream. ~ Yes, Kate and Isobel was in Dream On. I used my own contest for inspiration in addition to the picture because I hadn't a clue who the girl was or what she was doing. Though I have vague suspicions that it was Alice.

Oh my! Be careful. :) So early in the morn. You seemed to get so excited. You would think you were watching porn. :) Sorry for the reference. The rhyme just had it's way. I really do apologize, things like this, I shouldn't say. :)

This is so funny! Words do fly. They go far and wide and reach us all who take the trouble to go bird watching. Don't know why the birds were distressing you. Maybe it's the poet's version of an Alfred Hitchcock movie. Thanks for this. Wish I was a better dream interpreter, but there is an important message in this image--to understand it all is not so easy. I wonder if our electronic distribution is at fault. We don't get to see each other face to face. That's why I go to readings at times.
