Last Breath of a Rose
As the rose died
the petals fell away from the stem
like tears
Graceful, subtle tears
Soft, delicate petals
scented with the sweetest fragrance
Dropping like dew
in the morning
Allowing the living things
to smell its last breath
While hanging on to the life
that remained
