Laid To Waste

Your heart got taken in by deceit
and flattering lies designed to please.
Sincerity was a delusion
and forever dreams, merely a tease.
Hope sugarcoated reality;
yet failed to dilute its bitter taste.
And when happiness meant compromise;
illusions were quickly laid to waste.
Doubt fuels feelings of disbelief,
casting trust adrift in unsafe realms.
And your silent screams of frustration
mimic the wind, crying in the elms.
You are tired of feeling incomplete;
life feels stuck on rewind and replay.
And anxieties are on the rise;
facing feelings you once locked away.
You sift through fund memories for love,
having lost it somewhere in the past.
And allow fantasies to reshape
as heartaches fade away, at last.
