Ladybugs
LADYBUGS
Don’t you just hate them ?
So pretty, so perfect,
So shiny red with exactly five black spots;
And easy to catch - almost never flying out of reach.
All the children love them and cup hands for them,
Stroking their shining backs, collecting a bunch in a jar.
The rest of us are just creepy crawlies,
Just bugs, unwanted and unloved by all.
It’s bug racism.
But we work for the plants just as much as the
Oh-so-perfect ladybugs.
Us unter-bugs need a little attention too,
Need to be appreciated, to be collected in hands and jars.
We need love too.
