Ladybug Season

Spiraling and Vanishing Crawling on my shoelace Then gone I wear a red and black Crown In this summer As plentiful as Rain drops in a Thunderstorm They take Flight Tickling my skin Landing on my collarbone I am wreathed in them Covered in more dots Than they are One perches on my finger Then in the blink Of my eye Is gone and I run Into the tall Grasses And spinning I revel in Nature's rubies As they dance and Sparkle around me. They form a heavy Cloud and disperse And I am left with One single Solitary Ladybug Flying away In the summer Air.

OH, what a visual delight this poem conjures up....vivid imagery - and on this sub-zero day a welcome reminder that spring will follow.....and so will the ladybugs.

Thanks John, I was at my friend's cabin, walking through a field, when suddenly all these ladybugs flew up out of nowhere. It was such a poetic moment I had to write a poem about it.

Thank you so much! I am headed off to vacation in California. Hopefully I will get more inspiration there!
