La Aqua Vida

If from these waters you wish to take Be warned this is no average lake. For if you take but do not earn, You’ll pay most dearly in your turn. Your life prolonged, but at a cost: Your unblemished soul forever lost. Alive you’ll be, but still you’ll bleed, As others pay for your dark greed. Forever young you might be. From death’s grasp forever free. But once you drink, forever set. Forever in the gods’ debt. For no great gift comes without price, And those gods demand a sacrifice. If youth you seek: youth you must give; If you so wish to forever live. A young one’s blood must be spilt; The scales of fate begin to tilt. But every year you must repay, Lest to Fiddler’s Green you lay. Remember, traveler, of the lore, For it affects you evermore. So seeker be wary, seeker be wise: Upon you the decision lies.
