Know Your Place
I was always told, “Know your place”
When they wanted me to stand still
But stationary is not my style
Never has been and never will
Some were told, “Know your place”
Meaning at the back of the bus
I am glad they stood up and said, “Hell no”
Having the courage to sit with us
They say, “Knowing your place is a good thing to know”
But I strongly disagree
And if you wish to defy this logic
Then your place is next to me
The place that I choose to stand
Might change upon a whim
And I reserve the right to move around
Without any explanation
So, if you want, you can know your place
I am fine with that
But you can’t force me to choose one spot
So you can mark it upon your map
