Kindred Spirits

I am drawn like a magnet to this one tree I pass by in my lone walks in the woods even as I try to hide my thoughts among the distant somber clouds. I feel kindred to this tree. It stands solitary but haughty like a royal sentry to the wild grasses, formidable in silent intensity, a sculptor's work in progress. Its profound tranquility calls out to me. I am drawn to the inner strength it permeates as the summer breeze beckons us both, kindred spirits aching to believe and seek out respite from yawning shadows, fleeting they may be. @jjote 063021
