Killing Me With Kindness
Your eyes are cold
Your words are weak
You stay with me
Though your heart still seeks
A love you cherished
But a love denied
Your kiss tells me
This is goodbye
I lay down next to you
But we both understand
Come morning you'll be with him
You were always kind
You treated me well
But you never loved me
I knew it still
Foolishly I believed
I could change your heart
But I know I was wrong
Hearing your footsteps in the dark
I let you leave
Without a word
I pretend to sleep
But you know I heard
Your footsteps in the dark
Walking away, walking away...
The morning sun
Shines bright and new
I drink my coffee
Feeling mighty blue
You were never mean
Never cruel
Your kindness to me
Made me a fool
For the greatest sin
You could do
Killing me with kindness
Leaving me to live
Without you.
