Keeping Hearts Warm

Like unfolding tents the clouds roll cold As drifting snowflakes cover our road We traipse with icy crunch keeping pace Through cascading dusk the sun hides its face Where the winter owl knows the silence of deer We venture home to a hearth of good cheer Where our voices will lift from the serenity outside As the smell of chestnuts and cider abide We sing and laugh with joy and goodness Filled to the brim with merriment and gladness As our hearts swell to the fire’s blaze On this silent night of such loving grace
