Kashinath

K iss of his lover still lingering in his lips, A s the setting sun's ray kisses his face S omething melancholy creeps in his mind; H e is a warrior waiting for another battle. I n case this is the last battle he would fight N ever again will he return to his lover A nd hold her in his strong arms tenderly T ouching, caresssing her terracotta face, H e thus kisses his flute, sending a sorrowful melody. © kashinath karmakar =================================== By:kashinath karmakar (21st March 2011) **Written for Constance's contest"Tell his story" but missed the deadline by few minutes .

ok I'm back (I just had to leave you that name in soupmail while it was fresh in my mind)., Kash, this is indeed a melancholy poem with great atmosphere. The best is how you finished it in those last few lines. Comparing the flute to his lover's kisses.Very wonderful image. Best of luck in the contest. Andrea
