Juxtaposition

The night descends the day doest fall the sun must also sleep. Each precious gift the Master gives must have a darker keep. The rain falls down and floods the shore and many righteous drown. The grain grows tall to feed mankind but still the children frown. The lovers twine the holy rise yet sinners strive and win. Each precious gift the Master gives Must hide a darker sin.

wow, very profound, and I can get it too.haha. Haiku ish!! The meter is excellent except in stanza 1 where you made the mistake of using also and halo as rhyming words. They were wrong stress. If you had said, "the sun must also sleep" you'd have kept your meter. So to fix this, you only must find a rhyming word to redo that fourth line. GREAT message poem!

And we strive for the golden mean of Aristotle. You have a way with words. Images to contemplate. I often wonder why the world is the way it is. I am surprised it can not be 1000 times better for all. It is, however, as you say. But the bright light from these words makes it better.

I am surprised each piece I read ... it is the mark of true poetry to surprise the reader, and all because I thought I knew you and what your passions are ... I am proven wrong with joy. Beautiful write!

Ah, the ever so dramatic idea of opposites. A beautiful poem, made me look up what it required to be a ballad xD. Here's a philosophical question for you Deb, what is the opposite of existence? If you take up to answer the question (few people ever care to be bemused by the philosophical), I'll be watching soup mail!

Deborah, I recently wrote a essay on this very subject - All things must have a dark side to balance the scales - YF4L is a thing I made up it stands for "Your Friend 4 Life" always in my prayers hon, mj
