Just To Be
just to be
a poet
who must foresee
the alpha
of life
just to hold
a butterfly
just to release it
just to be
where rivers run
deep and muddy
but golden-hued
in evening sunlight
just to play
in the mud of life
slippery with living
in the mud
just to let
a firefly glow
on your hand
watching it wink on
and off as it flies
away
just to be
a frog
eternally clean
hopping from
pad to pad
Just to live
no choice ever
but to live
