Just Rewards
Oh birthday girl you have a merry eye
The joy of the day to look upon.
Your step is light you seem about to fly.
You cannot say where all the years have gone,
But some you know brought sorrows to go through.
It is the time a happy face to don.
When you were young the party times were few.
So many hungry mouths had to be fed,
Your parents did the best that they could do.
It’s been a spare and frugal life you’ve led.
In many of those years you’ve had to strive
And struggle extra hard to get ahead.
Now you have reached the age of ninety -five,
Amazed and happy that you’re still alive.
