Just One Quick Glance

I look in the mirror and it's amazing to see A young girl no longer now grandmother of three The image reflected often gives me a start At my age I have to watch out for my heart I've covered the mirrors, I no longer stare At the wrinkled old woman I always see there In the blink of an eye and a few years or so I wonder what happened to my skin's healthy glow All those glorious beach days have taken their toll And my once hardened tummy is beginning to roll The hair I once teased in my best sixties style Is wispy and graying and falls out on the tile I sleep more, I eat more, I don't stay up late Aging eventually is everyone's fate But adding up years is the best we can do Be happy its happening to me and not you We all must grow older, a true fact of living Savor each moment with kindness and giving One day you'll look into a mirror like Snow White And who's looking back might just give you a fright

Very clever! I know myself, the girl I see in the mirror "ain't what she used to be!" haha Aging comes and you can't stop it. This line made me grin: "Be happy its happening to me and not you." I thought that was cute. :) Blessings and congrats on being featured this week! Love, Amy

True beauty is in the soul. The packaging gets worn but the contents remain beautiful. Congratulations from this grandfather of five and awaiting the great grandfather of one (this spring). God Bless. Vince

This one has me chuckling. It happens to the best of us. No matter how hard people try, one cannot stop the aging process. Congratulations on having your poem featured. Keep on writing! I wish you continued success. Karen

"In the blink of an eye," is so true. I was asking my wife the other day...What ever happened with so and so and so and so? She laughed, said, why that was forty years ago.Time flies and here I'm looking out at the world with the same pair of eyes I had at 18. Congrats on the selection. Love, old daver

Patricia aging is so heartless. I find it so odd to feel like I'm 17 inside and see the crinkly lines around my eyes that millions of smiles have made. I wouldnt trade the smiles though. Laurie
