Just Listen

JUST LISTEN As I lay myself gently down, I hear the water caressing the rocks, leaping, splashing. I hear the hawk above me, cawing, screaming. I hear the woodpecker knocking, tat, tat, tat. The rain is closing off the world around me. Thunder is rolling, crashing. The wind is blowing around me. I hear the sounds of my people. Just listen. Water flowing softly down the stream, Washing away my fears. The hawk, hovering over me, telling me to be brave. The woodpecker, tat, tat, tat, telling me to keep trying. The rain, telling me it will be clear soon. Thunder rolling, telling me to go on. The wind is sighing, swaying in the trees, telling me to Just listen.
