Just Another Valentines Day

Half eaten box of chocolates A card never read Welted roses Burnt toast left from breakfast in bed Eating a rubber steak With a no label wine Such a lovely holiday To be a valentine Going through the motions That are expected Hoping for sleep Wanting to be rejected After a decade or two Everything becomes routine Something about forced romance Seems slightly obscene Were still together We are doing fine Next year let's forget About Valentines Caring is sharing everyday Not marketing over paced Greedy corporate selling love I'll save the card just in case

So very true how commercialized all the holidays are anymore. How can today be more important when you love all through the year. Where would Christmas and Easter be if all we had was present and candy and no Christ. I better not get started. It's a solid 7 from me. Great write. Janet
