Juneuary

A grey light shimmers as the charcoal clouds hover And a briny breeze chills the skin worn without cover While the call of restless seagulls evoke a reticent calm the mountain vista above the sea is windswept balm Driftwood claims it right to life on this rocky beach thrown by winter storms with furry and mighty reach Seekers of treasures scamper across the rippled tide flats clam shells and seaweed lay like seaside welcome mats Summer fights for breath against the northern biting cold Juneuary is the term for rain’s constant springtime hold Yet we seek the beauty of this northern coastal place that lingers in our hearts with smiles upon our face 6-17-2022

such a great use of imagery throwing one into an emotional path tread by the Great Romantics...one can see Whitman and his notebook at work along a forest path skirting his love of the water...i know this one from Minnesota...."Summer fights for breath against the northern biting cold" blessing be you and yours this week

what a creative title this is for this time that is not quite a June summer. I think I know whereof you speak!! (spent my early childhood on northwest coast. Found it depressing actually) GREAT imagery

Hi Andrea, I come from Mexico June-August to catch the only sunny weather to be found here, usually...what a depressing year for sure! But the walks along the shore still holds such beauty as to distract from the cold for a bit. I'm glad my poem evoked some memories of childhood!
