July Summer Sky
A July Summer sky, by Viv Wigley
I remember, as a child
lying on my back,
freshly mown grass,
gazing at the summer sky.
Finding shapes in clouds
or, on a clear day
simply gazing at the azure blue,
wondering what was beyond.
Trying to pierce that layer,
and see the infinite wonders in the blackness.
Fifty-six years later
I lie here again,
the same lawn of the house where I was born
and hope to die,
looking up at the same blue sky.
Nothing has been rearranged.
Only time, and I , have changed.
