This is the story of my son.
Unraveled lives have just begun.
Fear of sleep the nightmares call.
The scary shadow on the wall.
A phase it's not, I wish it was.
A gift of insight is the cause.
I have it too; I passed it down.
A genetic trait to which he's bound.
I hope he learns to use it well.
I'll give him the tools, but time will tell.
This may sound like I am insane.
Or too much time with Mary Jane.
I understand the doubt and fear.
This act of nature that we adhere.
Some say it's science so they can deal.
Whatever it takes to make it real.
I believe - it's in the mind.
If you're open, this you too will find.
Right now he's young and has no plan.
It's up to me to guide his hand.
