Joy
With a lesson learned, and food for thought, she began her journey.
Her feet stumbled along,
bound to the earth by the thick air.
Restrained by the gravity of doubt,
her soul took desperate measures.
Clawing and gnashing and ripping her way out,
the cement walls began melting like ice-
she was hoping against hope
that she might survive her journey
and preserve her heart.
Finally, after seconds,
and seconds,
and seconds,
she broke through into the light –
And fell.
As she plummeted back to the earth she had so fervently escaped,
she knew for the first time
the certainty that accompanies death.
It was in precisely the same moment that she heard His voice.
Her soul heard Him too,
and she realized that He had always been calling-
They had been searching for each other.
This revelation became her catalyst of flight.
It took some time,
but the years flew as fast as she did,
and she followed His voice-
neither one of them losing hope.
In the final second,
she passed through one last cloud-
and her eyes met His for the second time.
He wept,
and wept,
and wept,
as she stepped into His heart-
by freely surrendering hers.
At last, His daughter had returned.
