January

January, so you've met December Touched his decorated tree And seen the tinsel, star, and toys that please 'Pon New Year's Day you saw him leave weakness hit you in your knees 'Twas such a cold experience that long lasting breeze But in your cold depths you have healed wanting to meet February Knowing with his appearance your cold will evaporate into the beginnings of spring Spring you haven't experienced only cold, rain, wind, ice and snow But how you long to meet Spring and see the joy it brings Only Hot Cocoa, warm fires and long lazy nights have you enjoyed But you've heard of summer where the nights are warm and short and people go out to play in the night seeing fireflies and moonbeams.. January you've been given a bad rap of having a ever changing temperment Many don't look for your good qualities of letting the earth rest from feeding all the shrubs, trees, flowers, and grass that drink the earth's life giving nutrients...... January I am so glad that I got to meet you and will look forward to our time together again next year. Your Friend Always.. Sponsor: Vicky Tsiluma Contest: Hello January Written: January 17,2014

Congratulations on your placement in the top 10, Sara. It's hard to believe that January is almost over already! The weather here in Florida has been water-full! Sending nutrients deep down into the roots of plants. (...and in our sinkhole.) But even in January, the many sunny days here are delightful. Enjoy your January! Big Smiles, Dane Ann

I love this piece. It has that poetic flow and speaks of factual things that we know. Hey Lady from one of my home states. Thinking about ya. John

I love how you bring in the good hype for January as it is true it does get a bad rap as being the worst month of the year, as the coldest and harshest month! I really enjoyed reading this amazing and intriguing poem this evening! What an terrific piece, Great Work!!
