J Nebula and Visions of Mary For Easter
I took my dog across a brook one Easter day
He lapped at the water's edge, then ran off to play
The sun's warmth revived me as I threw back my hood
Cloud burst overhead made the brook into a flood
My dog returned and I said hurriedly "Come on".
We then sheltered together until the sun shone
What happened next is a mystery to this day
Mist covered my eyes in a fog how, I could not say
Then I saw Jesus holding out his hand to me
Smiling so serenely why, how could it be?
Then Mary, Jesus's mother came into view
In shimmering raiment, a kiss to me she blew
Tears of joyous hope cascaded down my face
As I stood amazed, charged with spiritual grace
How long I stayed motionless, as did my dog
Checking my watch, it was an hour since the white fog
Though it seemed only a few minutes or so
My dog's bark brought reality again to show.
