Ivory Snow
( Ivory Snow)
Settled by the fire
in the warm glow of night
a chill exists outside these walls
brush away the flowing drapes
looking out my mind escapes
revealing a warm distant glow
that is cold instead
the lights clone what you feel
a vision of temperature it does steal
but you are aware
that it is not real
but look closer a scattered snowflake falls
then another and another
more snowflakes fall
and ice the wall
they float by
sailing in slow motion
in the blistering air
each one different
not a pair
each snowflake gathers in unity
each has its place
they fall one by one
with such elegance and grace
yet few are there only for a short time
then are gone without a trace
ivory snow is formed throughout the night
each snowflake expands and stick together tight
once the joys are had
the ivory snow melts away
it has lived its reason
and now has ceased to be
the pleading cracked frozen ground
have soaked up all the liquid formed
a change has occurred
the earth has now transformed
as it stored and used all of what it needs
the process starts all over
in the time of its plead
earth only wants what it truly needs
earth has not
a sense of greed.
