I'Ve Lost a Step Or Two

I've lost a step or two, or maybe three My memory isn't what is used to be It takes me forever to get going these days Sometimes I forget what it is I want to say I ask young people 'What?' again and again My fingers tremble slightly when I hold a pen I can't seem to find things that are right in front of me I get up three or four times a night to pee I don't look forward to happy occasions anymore It's frankly all I can do to keep from looking bored They say that the 70's and 80's are the 'golden years' But they seem more like the unveiling of one's deepest fears

Looking at reality (or part of it) from a witty angle, Gershon. I'm not quite there yet, but I am not looking forward to it! Luckily I do not have much time to think about it...too busy! Regards // paul

I LOVE this poem, Gershon ... tho' to the contrary, I truly enjoy getting old. As Michael Franks so wistfully said: "Don't be blue, you ain't got far to go. You see better when you're moving slow. That's sums up how I feel about aging. Such an artistically insightful poem. Love and peace always.

Thanks for the light side perspective on this one, my friend. I like what Michael Franks said. It works for me. You have absolutely made my day with this comment! Peace and joy, Gershon

It must by young people who christened the name "golden years," as I've yet to find any gold among the decay of mind and body. You have some very witty lines here, Gershon. You might even describe them as "golden." Hugs, Carolyn

I think that perhaps 'gold' refers to the golden color of Autumn leaves---just before they fall, wither and die...So much to look forward to, eh?! Season's best, Gershon

Superbly written, Gershon. Wish it wasn't so true.

Thanks, Line. And, voile! I've granted your wish: Not a word of what I wrote is true. E.g., I get up 5 -6 times a night to pee. LOL. Season's best, gw

As long as there's no pendulum in that pit, I'm fine with it. :) gw
