It's the Thought That Counts

Trinkets and treasures, given away Something for nothing, what can I say? Jewelry or gold Some artwork of old A gift for someone on my mind today Shopping, searching, a second hand store Pirate and pilfer, the bargains galore A want or a need Obsession or greed It all depends on what you're looking for Recycle a relic, admire an antique Killing some time, in a brownstone boutique Whatever the find Be it crude or refined A gift for a friend, guaranteed unique. This is sweet, Daniel. I look around at many cute little gifts given to me by friends and it saddens me how my own family does not even appreciate the cuteness of them. My daughter wants me to throw out all my nic nacs and of course, hubbie would love to see all my stuff today in the garbage. At my age I am getting not to care any more. Even my grandkids prefer money to thoughtful unique gifts. Sorry this just made me think of disappointments

It's definitely the thought that counts, and I'll tell you what I think Danny...that this is such a delightful poem which flows smoothly under the guise of a Limerick...a pleasure to read. ~ Best regards my friend // paul

Thank you, Paul. I was going to classify it as a limerick but it wasn't bawdy so I called it a rhyme. Always good to see you my friend. I hope you are enjoying some nice weather and are taking it easy.

Dear Daniel, A great celebration with the essence of gift-giving, emphasizing that it's the thought behind the gesture that genuinely matters. I loved that from trinkets to treasures found in secondhand stores, each item carries meaning and uniqueness, reflecting the depth of consideration for the recipient. It truly is the value of a gift lies not in its price tag, but in the sentiment and thoughtfulness behind it. - Blessings, Daniel
