Next time it rains, close your eyes And smell the color blue So fresh and clean, the life it brings The aroma of brand new While they're closed, listen to The music of her mood Baby blue for lullabies or heavy electric blues At times she feels icy blue, others warm indigo But when you're wrapped in her embrace You feel like a vibrant rainbow We always see her coming Dressed in clouds dark grayish blue And when she leaves, she takes her blue And all the other hues. an original poem by Daniel Turner painting by stricher gerard all rights reserved NOT FOR CONTEST

You got that right! Thanks Mike. I've been trying to learn how to write sonnets. I have to keep trying. I do love rhymes the most. Thanks for dropping by and leaving this old man a smile.

This poem demonstrates the beauty that can be created when a poet focuses on a single, specific subject and uses lush imagery to describe it. Thank you, Daniel, for sharing this first-rate composition.

Hi Daniel, i don't find the rain depressing, i like nothing more than going out and walking in the rain. Nothing like it for me. A cleansing of the world my friend. Daniel, this is excellent poetry on the colour blue and the fresh clean rain. I feel, through reading this one Daniel, that you enjoyed writing this one. I can tell you i did enjoy this read very much. Six ladies commenting on one poem, in competition you would win the laurels. Seriously excellent write. A 7....Mike.

This is another great poem from you, Daniel. That last line was genius. It shows the deep despair he feels in her absence. love the painting too.

Thank you Richard. I'm not falling for that again. People used to tell me how much they liked something I had written and how it was destined to be a winner, only to receive an NA from the sponsor. Now I just write for the fun of writing. I appreciate the vote of confidence and your support.

Wonderfully creative, the variety of "blue" really comes to life with your enchanting imagery..the line "Baby blue for lullabies or heavy electric blues" is fantastic! I re-read a few times and this also has a lovely lyrical feel throughout. You really have penned "rain" in glorious shades of emotion! I saw the photo after the third read..magnificent! It is a pleasure to read your fine pieces. blessings, lynn

Thank you, nette. If you're like me, the rain sets my mood. Light rain is so soothing and a hard rain can sometimes summon fear. I appreciate you dropping by and leaving a smile.

Why isn't there any blue foods? Besides blueberries and jello, I can't think of any others. Just a thought. See, oh how your work inspires deep thought...great painting, great inspiration, enjoyed the read.
