It's Nothing But Delusion

Today they believed the lies the distorted truths… the accusations… and wrong-doing cries the created fabrications which are easy to consume conceptualizations and distortions… abundant and abloom. Responsibility once assumed… but now rarely seen reality now falsified… made convoluted… and obscene. And the beat goes on…. as the mind is twisted like that character… on Prodigal Son. And while these false narratives appear which the perpetrator wishes that all will embrace the ego desperately asserts and manipulates loyalty and trust is what it requires, and necessitates but the soul is slaughtered… beaten… and no where to be found and truth is tossed… lost… by perplexing theories which abound while delusion…. leaves nothing but despair and mind confusion. And life goes on…. the mind twisted like that character… on Prodigal Son.

This poem reminds me of one I wrote in answer to the arguments against belief in God posited by an atheist poet friend--'I Sing To Eternity'. I've known for 50 years that materialism-- the belief that only matter is real in the universe, no God, no soul-- is the real delusion and responsible for so much human unhappiness.

I tend to agree with you L. J. Perhaps there will be a merging of the spiritual with the material one day. Take care my friend.

Good one George! one's mind is twisted in a free and open society only if one allows...we, in the Western World possess free will, to listen to those we disagree...discuss, compromise & resolve...in Totalitarian Regimes, one narrative is only allowed, the arbiters of that narrative dictated by those in power, enforced with VIOLENCE...I would much rather filter my own opinions from an open society than nod my head in unison with lemmings to avoid being cancelled, shunned or worse!

So true James. We are truly fortunate that we live in a place where we can express our views, without anticipating and/or experiencing dire consequences for doing so. The important thing, as you mentioned, is filtering one’s opinions, and coming up with opinions that have been created through careful analysis, an examination of facts, knowledge and critical thinking, by way of an open mind. Take care.
