It was easy to know… An ever ready hug A sticky candied kiss A sweet clinginess Eyes full of admiration Songs full of love A call for help meant only for one Arms outstretched always wanting It was easy to know It was easy to show… A wake up call to a favorite breakfast A new frilly dress Special occasion celebration Treat upon treats A longed for whined for gift delivered Story time snuggles Game time giddiness Attention undivided Every little need provided It was easy to show Yes, it was easy to know she loved me Yes, it was easy to show I loved her My daughter, my life It was easy to know....easy to show Why is it so hard now? Refocusing on present realities New forms New expressions New words I struggle to find new ways The old ones are worn out All that’s left now is doubt It’s hard to show… It’s hard to know… Am I still valued in her eyes? Why does the passage of time make it so hard? Why? Isn’t love timeless? Eileen Manassian

Yes the changes do seem to be pulling the generation a part Eileen, but with the love you have shown in this poetry, a child could not turn away from those beautiful special words...I hope you are keeping well and safe.. i do try and come and read your poems periodical.

The older they get the more responsibilities that take their time. Hard isn't it? Hope you are well Eilee.

It's painful when it seems the love has gone. Love is eternal, but people all have their faults. We all have our own lives and paths to walk. Sometimes it takes us far away from those we love. The memories and thoughts pop into the minds of those separated from time to time, and a spark of the love touches them. I'm experiencing a similar situation right now and it is very painful in my heart and soul. Love and prayer for you and those you love, Eileen. A poet friend in Texas, Bill

What a powerful reflection on this vital part of your life. I have to imagine you've done the best you can...and will continue to do so. Powerful writing...it's so nice to see something new from you, Eileen. I hope you've been doing ok. :)

Impactful poem, one of the reasons I used to want my kids to stay kids. I know growing up, I went through a stage similar to this. As I grew older though, I either started to feel the love for my parents more, or I actually starting to love them more. I think most of this phenomenon is due to various spiritual factors.

This is so beautiful Eileen. You brought a tear to my eyes. I'm sure the pic is you and beautiful daughter. I could feel your love in every word. Nancy

Such a heartfelt write, Eileen, and I can truly relate to this regarding my grown children, too! Yes, the love is still there, but they have become more complicated and so we show our love differently..they still need it desperately (I believe!) Hugs from Laura :)

Yes it is timeless and still they need to separate. It’s an important part of maturing and growing. When she has children of her own, you will experience a resurgence within your relationship. You will also find those old things are not so worn out after all. Hugs Rick.

..they still call...share a little secret...tap on a past moment....leave a poignant invitation......to love them....

As children grow, the way they show their love is different and sometimes rare, but don't worry, she still loves you, Eileen:)
