It Isn'T That Simple

It isn’t that simple, to forget what’s gone before, It isn’t that simple, closing that god damn door. It isn’t that simple, to hide the emotional scars, It isn’t that simple, keeping memories, behind locked bars. It isn’t that simple, to not feel embarrassment or shame, It isn’t that simple, carrying eternal blame. It isn’t that simple, smiling every day, It isn’t that simple, chasing the nightmares away. It isn’t that simple, to disguise horrendous pain, It isn’t that simple, felling it’s all insane. It isn’t that simple, to make others understand, It isn’t that simple, holding someone’s hand. It isn’t that simple, to not be paranoid, It isn’t that simple, feeling life isn’t void. It isn’t that simple, to cry unshed tears, It isn’t that simple, facing past and present fears. It isn’t that simple, sleeping well at night, It isn’t that simple, to stand up and fight. It isn’t that simple, to forget what’s gone before, Hopefully in your own time, you can close that God damn door. For The Warriors August 2016

Yet they tell us to keep it simple....I think the struggle goes on because we "can't let the bastards win". Welcome to the Soup.

Do you find writing a form of meditation? I do... It helps shut the door I find. Nice one.

Meditation and release from the many thoughts that frequently run through my head. This was inspired by a comment I read on a PTSD support group. It went some thing like this..... It's not that easy to forget........ I went from there. Thanks Rick, for your comments.

WOW, what a list, Kay,Welcome to Poetry soup, I hope you enjoy the community. Here, you will find friendly poets who enjoy supporting one another. I myself, enjoy reading and commenting those who want to be read. The only time I give constructive criticism is when a poet desires it. However, if for some reason the poem is not my field I will guide you to someone who is more qualified than I. Stop by and read one of my poems if you like. My poems are not perfect, but I have a feeling you might like one. I encourage you to check out the contest page and read to receive comments. Tell me a little about your poetic skills if you like. It will be my pleasure to follow and read every poem you post from here on :) We are Lucky To Have you. Your New Poet Friend @-> LINDA <-@

Hi Linda. Thank you for your kind words. All I can tell you about my poetry is this: I find inspiration in almost everything and I'm extremely passionate about people and their lives. This poem was composed particularly for a page that I follow on Facebook and it is something I feel strongly about. I will take a look at some of your poems. Thanks again. :-)
